Catalog Exhibition from Larry "Poncho" Brown's curated exhibition "BALTIMORE MASTERS-ART OF THE ANCESTORS" at the Fredrick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Museum in historic Fells Point in Baltimore, MD 2016, was a salute to historical Baltimore African-American visual artists. Baltimore has a rich legacy of visual artists who all have joined the ancestors circle. Many of these artists acquired national and international acclaim, yet often have mostly gone unrecognized within the art community.
The Exhibition is the first of its kind to recognize this legacy of artists, activists, and entrepreneurs that were the very fabric of the inner city. Over 15 visual artists will be represented in this landmark exhibition including the likes of the late Elizabeth Talford Scott, Cary Beth Cryor, Thomas Stockett, Larry O. Brown, Sr., William Joyner, Larry Scott, Cornell Barnes, Robert O. Torrence, Tom Miller, Pontella Mason, O'neill Hammond, Leroy “Miki” Jones, Luke Shaw, Carl Clark, and Chenal Alford to name a few.
